Summer Day Camp Programs for North San Diego




Stuart Jones is the President of Outpost Summer Camps, Inc. and oversees office and camp operations each season. He has been involved with summer camps his entire life as a camper, counselor and director, founding Outpost in 2002. He is an American Camp Association (ACA) trained director and frequent speaker and staff trainer at both local and national ACA conferences, leading sessions on camp management and child development. He recently served on the Board of Directors for both the American Camp Association Southern California/Hawaii Section and the Community Campership Council of San Diego. During the offseason Stuart works as a consultant for Poway Unified School District's Extended School Services (ESS) and Even Start Family Literacy programs, and previously worked as a Senior Research Specialist with Rady Children's Hospital San Diego. Stuart is a graduate of UC San Diego and has his Master's degree in Developmental Psychology from California State University at Los Angeles. He lives in Rancho Penasquitos and has three children aged 7, 5 and 3 - two of whom attend camp!

Kelly Neiss is the Outpost Camp Director and is responsible for the overall operations of camp, recruiting and supervising staff, and works full time year round with Outpost. A San Diego native, she is a graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Liberal Studies and her California teaching credential. As a senior counselor at Outpost for two summers Kelly developed a wealth of knowledge and experience about camp, and celebrates her 6th summer in 2008 at camp and 4th on the directing team. Kelly is an First Aid/CPR Instructor for the American Red Cross, holds a Wilderness First Aid certification, and has served as a trainer/consultant to the Poway Unified School District's ESS before and after school programs, leading workshops in child development and group management skills. Kelly previously taught 1st grade at Midland elementary school in the Poway Unified School District.



Lauren McLimore is the Lower Camp Director and this will be her second summer at Outpost. She has a degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University. Lauren has previous experience at OSC working as a Senior Counselor with our youngest girls groups, experience working with young children as a staff member at the SDSU Children's Center, and has worked at a variety of other camp programs throughout Southern California. She has currently been accepted into the credential program at San Diego State to become an elementary school teacher.

Kali Madison is the Middle Camp Director and this will be her fourth summer at Outpost. Kali has gained valuable experience with kids working as a Senior Counselor for two summers and last year was our Pool Director. Kali has a degree in Psychology from the University of California San Diego, is an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor and Lifeguard, and is the oldest of 8 children. Kali also served as a Resident Advisor at UCSD for Muir College.



Candy Belisario is the Upper Camp Director. Candy has been with Outpost from the very beginning in 2002, and has served as a Senior Counselor for Outpost for the past three years. Currently she is studying Sociology and Child Development at California State University San Marcos. Candy has worked with children through a variety of experiences including employment at JW Tumbles and Barnes and Noble. She currently runs an After School Homework Club for students in the Escondido Union School District.

Elizabeth Martinet is our Senior Outpost Director, returning for her second summer at Outpost. Elizabeth has a degree in History from the University of California San Diego, is a certified lifeguard and rock climbing instructor, and highly experienced in facilitating outdoor adventure programs for middle school children. She will be attending California State University Long Beach this fall to earn her secondary teaching credential.



Sandi Hanafin is our Office Director, returning for a second season. She is responsible for registering families and campers, and generally making sure that the Outpost experience is a welcoming and rewarding one, right from the start. After an extensive career in Marketing and Customer Service, Sandi decided that it was time for a major career change. She graduated with a degree in History from California State University, San Marcos, and then taught History and English for 6 years at Futures/Halstrom High School.
